Voluma XC Denver

Voluma is an injectable filler used specifically for contouring and lifting the cheeks. Voluma creates a more youthful look for those who have lost volume or suppleness in the deep tissues of the cheek area.

As we age, we lose the plump, youthful roundness in our cheeks. This is caused by fat loss, hyaluronic acid loss, and changes of the bone structures of the face. This natural progression of aging is heredity in nature, but external factors, such as sun exposure, and lifestyle choices can also be factors.

The loss of volume in the cheeks is a major contributor to the aging process because it distorts something called the triangle of youth. A more youthful face has the volume in the upper two thirds of the face and less volume in the lower portion of the face. As we age, the volume shifts to the lower portion of the face and the triangle is turned upward, giving people an appearance similar to that of a bulldog.

We all want to look young. Sometimes we need a little help in the process. Filling the cheeks with Voluma and restoring the volume lost to the upper portion of the face is an excellent way to reduce the appearance of aging. As an added benefit, it can also lift loose skin in the lower portion of the face, reducing the lines of the marionette and nasal labial folds.

Voluma’s active component used to restore youth and volume comes from a substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). Our bodies already contain these hyaluronic acids naturally. Hyaluronic acids are simple sugars found throughout the body for the purpose of hydrating. With Voluma, you are simply replacing what is naturally declining through the aging process.

After making an appointment with our office, please read the before- and after-care instructions page to alleviate pain and possible side effects found with all injections. Once in the office, you will be given a thorough consultation, where we will discuss any questions, concerns, and your desired results. After consultation, filler injections usually take less than 30 minutes.

There are numerous fillers on the market, but at Simply Injectables Denver, we recommend Voluma based on research and experience. Voluma uses Vycross technology, which creates a smoother appearance and a lighter, less invasive injection.

Voluma is part of the Juvederm family and a product of Allergan Inc. It was approved by the FDA in 2013, and was used in Europe and Brazil for the 5 years prior to its FDA approval. Please see the Allergan website for a full list of side effects and further information regarding this product. Of course, any questions can also be presented during your consultation. We strive to make you as comfortable and knowledgeable regarding the procedure as possible.

Fequently Asked Questions

What is Voluma?

Voluma is the first hyaluronic acid filler approved for use in the midface. It is also the first hyaluronic acid filler with an indication for 18 to 24 months.

What is the difference between Juvederm and Voluma?

Voluma uses a superior technology, called Vycross, to link more hyaluronic acids together, which leads to a longer lasting product that is smoother and gives more lift to an area.

Can Voluma be used in areas other than the cheeks?

Although not indicated for other areas, Voluma is successful in restoring youth to areas of extreme volume loss, and, as an added benefit, it can give you results for up to 2 years.

At Simply Injectables, we have great responses with Voluma in non-indicated areas, including the cheeks, jawline, marionette, nasal labial folds, and hands. During your consultation, please ask which areas in which Voluma could benefit you.

How long does Voluma last?

Voluma has an indication for 18 to 24 months.

Can Voluma be removed?

Voluma is fully reversible using an enzyme.

After performing hundreds of Voluma injections in Denver, we have not had one patient ask for Voluma to be removed.

How much Voluma will I need to fill my cheeks?

About 90 percent of patients at Simply Injectables will start with one syringe on each side. About 80 percent of those patients are completely happy with the result while the remainder choose to add additional syringes.

The amount of material required to restore volume to the face is dependent on volume loss. Please feel free to have a proper consultation accessing the amount of volume loss so we can give you the best estimate.

How much does Voluma in Denver cost?

At Simply Injectables, we are focused on results. In order to give you the best results, we keep our prices as low as possible for you to utilize more material, maximizing your benefits.

The first syringe of Voluma costs $800.

If you are filling the cheeks, 90 percent of our patients start with one syringe on each side, which is a total of $1,600.

What are the side effects of Voluma?

Like with all medications, there are risks and side effects; however, Voluma is made from natural sugars that already occur in your body, so reactions are rare. Most of the side effects are caused by the injections themselves, not the Voluma.

Immediately after receiving your injections, please expect minor swelling, small visible needle insertion sites, and possible bruising. These are all short lived and many patients walk out of the office and go about a normal day.

Rare side effects are listed on Allergan’s website . Feel free to ask any questions you may have during your consultation. We are here to make you feel comfortable.

What should I expect after my Voluma injections and what are my post-care instructions?

Avoid drinking alcohol and activities that cause vasodilation (enlargement of blood vessels), such as excessive heat, direct sunlight, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours. All of these have the ability to cause additional bruising.

If you develop swelling and bruising right away, use a cool compress on the skin. Avoid direct skin contact with ice because it can cause burns.

Any lumps, bumps, or small needle sticks should subside within a few hours. It is OK to cover the areas with makeup if needed.

Arnica Montana and fresh pineapple, which contains Bromelain, are over-the-counter remedies that aid in the breakdown of red blood cells (bruising). These products may shorten the duration of bruising.

When should I follow up after my injections?

At Simply Injectables Denver, we are always available for questions and follow-up after your injections; however, waiting 2 weeks to see the end result is preferred before deciding if you need more treatment.

Although extremely rare, follow up immediately if you develop intense pain, draining, or extreme heat at an injection site. This could indicate an infection or reaction to the filler itself.

Do not use Voluma if:

  • You have an active skin injection, including cold sores
  • You have had reactions to Juvederm products in the past
  • You have an allergy to lidocaine
  • You have a history of keloid scarring
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
