Did you know Botox can help with excessive sweating?

Imagine you are at an important job interview and you go to shake your (hopefully) future employer’s hand only to find your hand is dripping with sweat. Or you are meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time and you begin to feel your white button-up-shirt start to soak around the underarms. All you can think about is if they notice…

About 2-3% of Americans (~7.8 million people) deal with a condition called hyperhidrosis; excessive sweating of underarms, palms, and soles of the feet. This can cause significant emotional distress in the everyday lives of those affected. Fortunately, Botox saves the day once again.

Hyperhidrosis is caused by overactive sweat glands under the skin. Many people do not know that we use Botox for 14 different indications in the U.S. One of them being the cosmetic use of decreasing facial wrinkles and another being the decrease of excessive sweating.

This treatment takes no more than 20 minutes and the effect lasts anywhere from 4-10 months!

Here’s what to expect at Simply Injectables. We start by icing the area for comfort. Several pinpoint pricks later the injected area will have about an 85% decrease in sweating. Magic.

Average doses for excessive sweating
  • Hands 40 units of Botox cosmetic per hand
  • Underarms 50 units of Botox cosmetic per underarm
  • Soles of feet 50 units of Botox cosmetic per foot
How long does it last?

The anti-sweating effect kicks in 48-72 hours after injection and depending on the dose may last up to 10 months!

Any side effects?

There are little to no side effects. There will be mild bumps, redness, and irritation for an hour or two after injection. It is important to avoid pressure on the injected area for 4 hours post injection. A small percentage of people have reported mild muscle weakness at peak potency (2 weeks post injection).
